There are few times in life when I’m speechless. Last night was one of those amazingly transcendent moments were I witnessed the pure inosence of a child giving their lives to Jesus. It just so happened to be my Sweet Caroline!
For months she has been asking Frances and me about what it means to be a Christian. And for months, we’ve been slloooowwwly talking with her about this life-changing decision. I’ve been gun-shy to bring it up with her because I didn’t want her to rush it. However, Caroline is not the typical 6-year-old (maybe I’m just saying that because I’m her father).
So finally, she hit her breaking point and begged us last night to tell her how to become a Christian and how to ask Jesus into her heart.
She was in tears. She HAD to KNOW.
We were in tears. We HAD to SHOW.
So, we prayed on our couch and she invited Christ into her life, asked for Him to forgive her sins and give her a new life! It was simply amazing.
Being a pastor, I see people experience life-change every day. It never gets old. However, seeing your daughter give her life to Christ, regardless of how young or old, gives a whole new meaning to Grace@Home!
Immediately afterwards, she wanted to tell everyone – especially her little sister. You should have heard the night time conversation between Caroline and my 3-year-old, Madelyn.
Caroline: “Maddy, do you know that I have Jesus in my heart and when I die I’m going to heaven?”
Maddy: “I want to go to heaven!”
Caroline: “No, no, no…It’s not that easy! You have to do your ABC’s.”
Maddy: “A, B, C, D, E, F, G…”
Caroline: “No, no, no…Not THOSE ABC’s…Admit your a sinner, Believe that Christ died and rose for you, Confess Jesus as leader of your life.”
Maddy: “Can we tell monster stories now?”
Caroline: “Oh brother…”
I guess she’s going to be my little evangelist. Makes me proud.
Just thought I would share with you what’s been going on in our world lately! It’s pretty good stuff!
For Discussion: Have you had similar experiences with young people in your life? I’d love to hear your stories!
